Mary Polly Pepper ( Jaspers/Jexpers) married James Patton Caldwell on Jul 1,
1818 at the Methodist Episcopal Church, in St. Louis, Missouri. Mary Polly
was born about 1800 in Kentucky and died abt.1904 in Missouri. Mary lived a
long life to 104, her death was an accident. She was a midwife who fell from
her horse when it tread on some ice while on her way to deliver a grandchild.
She was a most remarkable woman, she reared a family of 11 children and
served as a midwife for her children and grandchildren.
James Patton died Jan 6, 1905 on the banks of Tavern Creek, Missouri from
a heart atack while driving cattle to Crocker stock pens. At the time of his
death he was deacon and Sunday School superintendence at the Prosperity
Baptist Church it was located on acreage given by he and his wife Mary Polly.
James Patton & Mary Polly were my 3rd grandparents. I have lots more
information if you are interested.
