I don't have a definite link here, but there are enough bits of information
to make a hypothesis.
Joseph Caldwell emigrated with his family about 1769 from Derry, Ireland to
Sherman's Valley, Perry County, PA. He would have been about 29 years old if
it is the same Joseph cited above, About 1780 he settled on Sewickley Creek,
Westmoreland County, PA. He had 5 sons - James, Joseph, David, Andrew and
Michael - and a daughter, Polly. Joseph, David and Andrew settled in
Kentucky. Michael settled near Piqua , Ohio. James remained in Western
Pennsylvania (my branch). Polly married Malcow Worley who became a Shaker.
Union Village, a Shaker establishment, was built on his land in southern
Ohio.
I have no information on Joseph's wife. I have information that he later
moved to Kentucky but none about the date or place of death. If these two
Jospehs are the same, that would be Harrison Co, KY in 1810
David Caldwell was born in 1765 (? PA vs. Ireland). If these two Davids are
the same, he would have been born in Ireland. He later moved to Harrison Co,
KY. He married Sarah Brice from Bourbon Co, KY. Edward Byram, a neighbor in
Westmoreland Co, and the father of Joseph's daughter-in-law Sarah, moved to
Bourbon Co, KY about 1790. it doesn't prove very much but is an interesting
coincident.
I thought I would throw this out for comment since I have hit the wall in
locating information about Joseph .
