Well, today is living proof that you are never too old to learn something new.
I am a CALDWELL descendant, from way back in Maryland ca. late 1600-early
1700's when they got tangled in with Callaways, Givans, and Hearnes. I don't
have my CALDWELL binder right here at hand, but anyway, I am a CALDWELL
descendant.
Fact number 2 is that I am an American History teacher for the past 30
years( I was only an enfant when I began teaching ( LOL)). I teach at our
local high school. Only today did I learn what the middle initial ,"C",
stood for in John C. Calhoun's name. I am so glad to know that he was a
relative no matter how far removed. You know how we are in the South; we
count relationships right on down to our 18,000th cousins thrice removed. I
had an uncle who could have been old John C. reborn in relation to his stand
on State's Rights. Of course, in old John C.'s day it was called "the
Nullification theory". Also, today I learned that John C. Calhoun founded
Clemson University( we are all L.S.U. supporters here in Louisiana--yes, even
after diNardo). Anyway, just wanted to let the world know that you are NEVER
too old to learn something new!!!
