Thank you very much for your information! We do connect on the JOHN &
MARGARET PHILLIPS CALDWELL line, I going thru who I believe is the Father of
my WILLIAM CALDWELL who was born in York Co., PA in 1759 to the REV. JAMES
CALDWELL who was murdered in Elizabeth Point, NJ in 1781 by the British.
This REV. JAMES CALDWELL helped found Princeton and got his DD degree from
there in 1760, married again in 1763 to HANNAH ODGEN in NJ. I believe his
first
wife was ANN ? of York Co. and may have died in childbirth having my
WILLIAM.
REV. JAMES may have been living with JOHN & MARGARET PHILLIPS CALDWELL for
awhile at the Cub Creek CALDWELL Settlement near the present-day Phenix in
Charlotte County, then (Lunenberg Co.). I believe after my WILLIAM's
Father's death, he went whereever JOHN CALDWELL, JR. went, and think he,
too,
went with the group to NC-then to SC before deciding to go to KY Adair
County, Columbia. I visited Columbia in November and learned he was Clerk
of
the Court and
appears to have come there about 1809. My WILLIAM died there 7-5-1825,
first
married a REBECKAH ? in York Co., PA, and 2nd marriage to REBECCA EDMOND
in 1816, Columbia. My WILLIAM's had a son I go thru, ANDREW CALDWELL, of
Russell County, VA, later Lee County (did the Census for that county in
1830)
but
left shortly thereafter to go to IL where he lived various places, before
settling last in
Chester, Randolph County, IL where he died in 1844. He first married
JERUSHA
ELLINGTON of Russell County, VA, 2nd SINAI SHARPE (believe the SHARPES were
from Abbeville, SC, but do not have any confirmation of that).
Would love to get all who your CALDWELLS were - know about JOHN CALDWELL
CALHOUN. You need to connect with Davon104 who is AOL because she has I
think this same line. Hers were in Abbeville, SC, then went to Calhoun, MS,
then on
to Eastern TX where they have been ever since.
