I believe the following John CALDWELL of Abbeville, SC, is part of the Cub Creek Clan, but
I
cannot find the connection. Does anyone know where he fits in?
John CALDWELL
b. circa 1764 (family Bible states age 59 at death)
at: location unknown
1st Wife: unknown, but may have been a BEASLEY
2nd Wife: Margaret WARDLAW BRIGHTMAN
Marriage date: circa 1815 (Margaret later married Alexander STUART c. 1819)
Known Children: William, Alexander, Elizabeth, Margaret, Sibby, Edmund, James, John,
Jesse,
Polly, Belinda, Sara, Thomas. (The last three by his second wife.)
Died: 28 April 1818 (Bible record)
at: Abbeville District, SC
I have researched several of the other Caldwell families in Abbeville District, circa
1800, but
cannot find a connection for this John.
An idea (which can't possbily be original, so most likely this wheel has already been
invented): Can the Cub Creek Caldwell family tree be posted somewhere in graphic form so
that
researchers can climb around its branches looking for logical places to make connections?
Putting together all these disjointed snippets of textural information is next to
impossible.
Thanks,
Bob Caldwell

Note to Nova Wade: I am 99.99% sure that this John is the father of our Alexander who
moved to
Greene Co. AL about 1823 and died there in the late 1830's. Alexander's wife,
Margaret, is
listed in the 1850 census mortality table as having died in 1849.
