Do you know anyone working on the Alexander Caldwell line of Haywood Co. NC
and Botetourt Co. VA?
Thanks, Diana

Matthew Caldwell was my ggreat uncle. I met Blanche back in the 1970's when
the Caldwells had their reunions in DeQueen, AR (my home town). Will be
glad to share information with you.

Good morning, Butch:
I'm sorry that I have taken so long to reply. My email was down. (Hard to
live without it!)
Anyway, if you could give me a little more info, I may be able to find
something on your wife's family. Who was Margaret Peggy CALDWELL married
to? Who were your wife's parents, grandparents, etc.
I did some research on Blanche CALDWELL of the Bonnie and Clyde gang once.
Just for fun. To see if I could tie her in to my family. I got real
close
and I am not finished with her line yet. She was Cherokee and Choctaw, I
believe. Her father was Matthew CALDWELL, who was Cherokee. I will dig up
my notes and give you more information.
Also, I have Crowders in my database; are we cousins?

Hi,
My wife was born a Caldwell and is descendant of Margaret Peggy Caldwell
born about 1807 in Botetourt County. Her maiden name is unknown. She was a
full blooded Cherokee and resided in Simmonsville and Level Green in
Sinking Creek Valley. She had one son and two daughters. If you know
anything about Caldwell's married to Indians please contact me at
crowderfb(a)AOL.com.
In regards to your questions about your two ancestors that were in the
Civil War, if they were in the home guard, no records might exist. Finding
their tombstones might help confirm their service. Also Check the VPI
Library and the National Archives.
