Thank you for sharing this - I've been going thru it at work and sent it to
my home so I can do it justice - super!!!

p.s. I've found we have several branches of Caldwell's in my line -
complicated, but fun.

Subject: [CALDWELL-L] SOURCES/ CALDWELL INFORMATION
Dear listers / Friends, Since I am out of cartridge ink and cannot print
off the wonderful information I have received...I thought I would send out
some SITES AND SOURCES where I have gathered information. Most of you
probably have this information...but NEWBIES might be able to use the help.
I truly found these by accident tinking around on my computer when it was
new!
SITE / SOURCE
1.
http://lib-operations.sonoma.edu/fin/aaa-0598.html
"Caldwell and Thomson Source Documents" a good general source list for
research..about 3 pages
2.
http://c-23.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/archives/va/
augusta/court/court02.txt.....Judgement At Rules
14 pages. Pages 4,5,12,13 useful info perhaps. Pg.
13 talks about Rev. John Craighead...the Craig-
heads are frequently mentioned with Caldwells
so this information might help someone.
3.
http://www.starbase21.com/kybiog/boyle/caldwell.j.txt
"Historical Sketches of Kentucky" ..a short bio of Gen. John Caldwell.
4.
http://www.state.tn.us/sos/statelib/pubsvs/doctor1.htm
"Tennessee State Library Archives" about 7 pages...but I only found mention
of a Caldwell on pg. 5. This is information about Tennessee Confederate
Physicians in the Civil War. There are 4 Caldwells on pg. 5
5.
http://home.hiwaay.net/~bobdf/migrations.html
"Migration Patterns from Virginia" 7 pages, great narrative information,
picutres, and maps (good ones)
6.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymercer/grants.html
"Mercer County's First Settlers" 7 pages. Great explanation of the county
changes, great colorful easy to understand maps, and on page 3 land grant
information...one Caldwell listed
7.
http://userweb.interactive.net/~mailman/map6.html
Excellent map of Ireland in color showing all those places we keep hearing
about our ancestors coming from! Great to include in a family history.
8.
http://www.clark.net/pub/mjloyd/files51st.txt
"51st VA INFANTRY REGIMENT ROSTER"...there are 14 pages...but I only printed
off a few...on pg. 3 a Caldwell is listed
9.
http://www.lineages.com/vault/BountyLands.asp?Surname=Caldwell&FirstN...
ue
l..."WAR OF 1812
BOUNTY LAND GRANTS IN THE ILLINOIS MILITARY TRACT I submitted the name of
Samuel and got a response. Maybe you could submit other names and see if
you
get a record.
10.
http://lib-operations.sonoma.edu/fin/aaa-0303.html .......I know, I
have another entry with this URL..note there is a slight difference in
them....this has "CALDWELL ABSTRACTS-SUMMARY..." 2 PAGES...short information
on different Caldwells....might help somebody just beginning.
I found all of this stuff in a box that has earlier items for my research.
Thought it might help someone new to this obsession! I know when I started,
ANYTHING was a help and a blessing.
