I am sorry to say that there are no Charles Caldwell's on my Caldwell tree. It never
fails to amaze me that, during the relative same period of time, in what were rather small
populations in the same part of Western PA, no family connections are evident.
To the best of my knowledge, my father always referred to us as Scotch Irish - which I
believe means that the family first left Scotland for Ireland and then, after a time, left
Northern Ireland for America. I don't know if that means that they were asked to
leave both countries or volunteered to do so.
They probably did not want to become part of The Church of England, nor Irish Catholic
Church, being Presbyterians such as they were.
My ancestors were Dr. Joseph (1797-1858), William (1821-1898), John B. (1844-1938),
Laverne (1881-1939), and my Father, Merlin (1912-1981).
By the time I became interested in my ancestry, there were no ancestors left for me to
ask.
