It was not I who brought up the copyright question, but I believe it was
Peter McCrae - - pmccrae(a)googlemail.com - - who answered my original query
directed to the Administrator. Our Administrator has not replied to our
concerns yet, and I do not know who the administrator of this list is.
Hopefully they will pick up this thread of concerns soon and present some
answers for us.
Peter seemed to think that one reason for the change in format was due to
copyright protection somehow. I questioned that (see previous posts). I
am not a copyright expert by any means, but it did not make sense to me that
an obit which was published in a public newspaper would be protected by
copyright! If anyone can prove it to me, I will be happy to know, as I
will be in a "heap of trouble" since I have copied many obits in connection
with my genealogy research!
