and Mrs J. M. Caldwell in Des Moines, last Thursday afternoon. Mrs Stockdale was visiting
with her parentsi n Des Moines and decided while there to have her tonsils removed, as
they had been giving her trouble. The operation was performed by Dr H. A. Habenicht, and
he says Mrs Stockdale's heart was weak, and because of that fact only half as much
cocaine as usual was administered to her. Mrs Stockdale had been visiting with her
parents for three weeks, and had been in good health except that her tonsils had been
bothering her, and she decided to have them removed. Dr Habenicht was called who with the
assistance of another physician administered a small quantity of cocaine. "Why,
doctor" exclaimed Mrs Stockdale, "that didn't hurt a bit". The
physicians were waiting a few moments before precedin!

home of her parents Mrs and Mrs J. M. Caldwell, 1515 West 20th Street, Des Moines, Iowa,
July 18, 1912, aged 37 years, 10 months and 25 days. When she was ten years old her
parents moved to Council Bluffs, Ia., where she resided until her marriage with Charles H
Stockdale, May 25, 1892. Of this union three children were born, Meryl Dawn, wife of Guy
W Offill, College View, Neb; Vivian Marie and Donald Mervale, all of whom survive her.
Though not making a profession of religion prior to the year 1900, she always attended the
Methodist Episcopal church. In that year, however, she gave her heart to God, and the
following year was baptized by Elder N. C. Bergerson at the Seventh Day Adventist
Campmeeting at Des Moines, Iowa.
On returning to her home in Council Bluffs she united with the Seventh Day Adventist
church in that city, and at the time of her death was an honored and beloved member of the
Adventist church in College View, Neb. Sister Stockdale was a devoted Christian, her
devotion to God, her loving sympathetic spirit and sweet charitable disposition endeared
her to all who knew her. In her home she was a model wife and mother; in the church an
active worker, a humble consecrated worshipper and an earnest student of the Holy
Scriptures. We believe she sleeps in Jesus and will have a part in the resurrection of the
just, at the coming of the life giver.
Besides her sorrowing husband and children she leaves her father, mother and one sister
