Hi Elizabeth ,
I have been reading the Caldwell bulletin board for some time with the hope
that somebody out there would have a common ancestor with no luck so far.
BUT.
My Mom said her Caldwell ancestors came from Fermanagh . But I also have
heard from another relative that she thinks they came from Donegal . Both
agree they came from Ireland so at least it narrows them down to the same
country !
My ancestor is Joseph Caldwell who came to this country with his wife Mary
Ann in either 1831 or 1811 . Joseph being such a rare name it should be easy
to determine , right ? The 1861 census in New Brunswick , Canada shows him
as being 46 at that time so he would have been born about 1815 . He owned
land there as well but I don't know if he died there but I would assume he
did .
Does any of this ring a bell ?
Any help would be appreciated , Elizabeth ,
Thanks ,
Anna

Subject: [CALDWELL-L] Location of Caldwell Castle, Ireland
Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, right near
Inniskillen. It is a ruin, but very picturesque. You can get there by
taking
a taxi from Inniskillen. The Caldwell family founded and runs the
Belleek
Pottery Company which is in the town of Belleek nearby.
This was passed to me.
