Diana,
According to records I have, my Eugenia Templeton (b. Nov 24, 1822) married
Robert Winslow Caldwell (b. Dec.10,1828). He was captured at Gettysburg and
died in a Military Prison at Elmira, NY July 3, 1863. The only place I have
noted for anyone then was Sugar Creek, Mecklenburg County, NC.
Let me know if any of this connects.
Mary

I find this of interest also. My 3rd great grandfather Rev. John McDowell
married Elizabeth Caldwell in Haywood Co. NC in 1815. Rev. John McDowells
great grandmother was Elizabeth (Templeton) m William McDowell in 1772 Rowen
County, NC and settled in Burke Co later became Haywood Co. NC Did any of
your Caldwells end up in Haywood Co NC or TN?
Thanks,
Diana

Sharon,
This sounds familiar to me too. I will pull out my Caldwell notes and check
it for you today. Hope it turns up some new information.
