CALDWELL, her dower in the estate of John CALDWELL dec'd, her late husband.

ABBEVILLE DISTRICT, S.C. CALDWELL will:
I, John CALDWELL of the state of South Carolina and County of
Abbeville, being sick and low condition of body but of sound judgment and
perfect memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body, do make,
constitute, and ordain this, my last will and testament, in form following;
that is to say, first, I desire that my body may be decently buried at the
discretion of my executors, and my soul I commit to God who gave it, nothing
doubting but I shall receive it at the general resurrection.
As to the worldly property with which God has endowed me:
I give and bequeath as follows, that is to say, I give to my
well-beloved wife Elisabeth CALDWELL my Negro fellow Gill, and likewise my
Negro woman Dole, to be hers; use at her command during her widowhood, and
if she continues my widow, 'til her death, the above Negroes to be disposed
of in the best maner (sic) to the seport (sic) of my youngest son and
daughter Andrew and Jane CALDWELL; by hireing (sic) them to my youngest
child is of age; then to be divided bewtween my sons James and Andrew
CALDWELL, and my daughter Jane CALDWELL, by two of them taking said Negroes
and paying the third an equal portion to their value.
I give and bequeath to my oldest son William CALDWELL the land
purchased from Jeorge HUSTON, together with fifty acres whereon he now
lives, being in all one hundred and fifty acres.
I give and bequeath to David CALDWELL one hundred and fifty acres of
the land bought of BLACK, the said land to be taken off the southwest side
of said land bought of said BLACK.
The remainder of my land I give to sons James and Andrew CALDWELL, to
be equally divided between them, allowing my wife her living off the last
mentioned land.
I give to my daughters Ann ROLB and Isabel PICKENS ten shillings each.
I give to my daughter Marry BLACK two cows.
I allow my just debts to be paid by my executor and all my debts to be
collected by said executors; and the rest of my personal property to be at
the disposal of my widow for the use of the family.
I make and ordain John CALDWELL, Junior, and Joseph BLACK, executors,
and if the above named wench Dole be now with child, I allow it be the
property of my daughter Isabel PICKENS.
The above being my last will, witness my hadn this 21st day of June
1795.

Will of Elizabeth (HUGGINS) CALDWELL
I, Elizabeth CALDWELL, widow of John CALDWELL, deceased, lately of
Abbeville District, South Carolina, being of sound mind, do make this, my
last will and testament, in form following; that is to say, I give, devise,
and bequeath to my well-beloved son James CALDWELL my Negro fellow Gill --
to him and his heirs forever.
And I give and bequeath to my son Andrew CALDWELL my Negro boy named
Gill, to be him and his heirs forever, and likewise.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Isabella PICKENS my little Negro
girl named Wine, now in the possession of Joseph HAMILTON in the state of
Georgia, to be to her and her heirs forever, and
I give to my beloved daughter Jane HAMILTON my Negro woman Dole, to be
to her and her heirs forever provided that if the little Negro Winey should
die before it comes to the age of twelve years;
My household property to be equally divided amongst all my children,
and...
I hereby revoke and anull (sic) all former wills -- and wrightings
(sic) teaching the same Negroes -- and in particular a bill of sale made to
Joseph HAMILTON for my Negro woman Doley and her increase -- which bill of
sale I gave to prevent her being taken to pay James COLEY debt for which I
stood security; but for and in consideration of which bill of sale I never
received any value.
I make this will in conformity to the proven in the vested by the last
will and testament of my deceased husband John CALDWELL, and I make and
ordain Joseph BLACK my executor in presence of us:
