Francis Caldwell and Catherine Lottridge were married on 27 September 1855 in Gallia
County, Ohio. Milton Caldwell was born 14 September 1856 and his brother Perry V.
Caldwell was born 20 September 1860; the sons of Francis and Catherine Caldwell. Francis
Caldwell was killed in the Civil War; died on 21 October 1864 in the hospital at Newtown,
VA, of a gunshot wound received 19 Oct 1864 at the battle of Cedar Run, Virginia while a
teamster serving with Co B, 166th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Catherine remarried on 5
December 1867 a man named John Hammond. John and Catherine Hammond had at least one son,
Henry about 1869. In 1880 Perry Caldwell was living in Athen's county, OH with his
brother Milton. Milton, who was known for shooting a huge bald-eagle in Athen's
county in 1881, later joined the military and served in the SpanAm War, the Philippines
(where he won the Silver Star helping to rescue the Gillmore Party) and in World War One.
I am not sure when Perry died, !
but Milton lived until after 1930.
