Hi,
There are 2 different lines of Caldwells in Haywood County. First: The
Alexander Caldwell line that settled in Waynesville, Fines Creek, Johnathan
Creek & Pigeon area. My 4th great grandmother Elizabeth (Caldwell) McDowell
was born 1800 in GA and married in Waynesville, Haywood co. NC. In 1815. Do
not know her fathers name but her grandfather Alexander Caldwell was a
witness. There was a William Caldwell which may have been her father also in
Haywood co. Second: In the Cataloochee Area the first land entry was by
Henry Caldwell. What area are your ancestors from? Would love to share
information.
Diana

I am researching the caldwell side of my family. My great grandfather was
John Caldwell b.1872 in haywood county and died in 1960 in Haywood co. His
first wife was Margaret Messer and his second wife was Julia Cagle b. 1911.
There are alot of caldwell's in that area and I have hit a dead end. Any
help would be appreciated.
