Linda and all others interested in Prince Edward Caldwells:
I now have the information I have on the Vaughn Creek Caldwells posted at:
Hi Doug. I was actually referring to another John Caldwell of
Prince
Edward
County VA, one of the Buffalo Creek PEC Caldwell's. However I am keenly
interested in all the early Caldwell's in VA, especially those in the
Southside counties (but also Augusta, Botetourt, etc.). But as to what
may
be a match to the John Caldwell you referenced, I have reconstructed a
partial genealogy of Vaughn Creek (PEC) Caldwell's, the progenitor of the
group being one John Caldwell, born circa 1694-95 and died August 1789 in
PEC. He purchased 2,230 acres on Vaughn Creek in October 1755 and then
systematically sold it off to Thomas Armstrong, Thomas Caldwell, John
Caldwell, Jr, David Caldwell, and William Finley. Perhaps these were all
sons and sons-in law. If you are connected to this group, can you lay out
the descent? Thanks.
