I thought David Caldwell, son of Samuel and Martha Rownd Caldwell, married Eliza Hewson.
This David Caldwell (b. 1770) could not have been the father of anyone in USNA class of
1917.

David Caldwell, son of Samuel Caldwell and Martha Rownd, was born 21 Feb 1770, died 11 Nov
18 35, and was buried in the cemetery of the Third Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia His
wil l was probated 16 Nov 1835. He succeeded his father as Clerk of the District Court of
the Uni ted States. He had an Aunt Henrietta Rownd. He married Eliza Hewson. His will also
mentione d sisters Ann Knowles, Sarah Markoe, Isabella Masters, Harriet Caldwell, and Mary
Caldwell; s ister-in-law Emily Hewson; brothers-in-law Thomas Masters, of New York, and
Francis Markoe; b rother Samuel W. Caldwell. 1st daughter Mary H. Caldwell, married to
James H. Bradford, six c hildren, three still alive: C. S. Bradford, Jr., of Westchester,
PA; Dr. T. Hewson Bradford , of Philadlphia; and D. Caldwell Bradford. 2nd daughter
elizabeth Caldwell married to Edwar d Florens Rivinus, two children: Elizabeth F. Rivinus
and D. C. F. Rivinus.
