Hi. I am related to you. My mom is Patricia Caldwell Schick. John Hollis Caldwell is my
3rd Great Uncle. His brother Charles Matthews Caldwell is my 3rd Great Grandfather. Do
you have any further info on their parents (Garland Caldwell and Elizabeth Matthews) or
their Grandparents (George Caldwell and Jane Winn). I have found a Georgia Headright and
Bounty Land Record for Andrew W. Caldwell (John Hollis' brother)- 200 acres in Georgia
1840. Also a Georgia Headright and Bounty Land Record for George Caldwell dated 13th July
1784 stating that he was once a resident and was a refugee soldier of the South Carolina
Militia under Col John Baker and was eligible for such lands. From the copy of the family
letter from Andrew W. Caldwell, it states that Jane Winn, George's wife, died at the
start of the Revolutionary War. So maybe George joined the S.C. militia and went to
Georgia. It makes sense since his son Garland was in Hall County Georgia (1830 and 1840
census). I can s!
end you a copy of the actual documents if you are interested. Please let me know if you
have any info that you can share. Thanks.
Kathy
