Before long explanations, are you familiar with and do you subscribe to the
Caldwell Family as layed out in "Caldwell-Eakin-Lemon-Reid and related
Families" by William Austin II and Rebecca Austin, 1982?

From Bedford county, Deed Book 1: "Deed from William Boyd of
Prince
Edward county, to George Caldwell, 100 acres lying on Little Falling River
in
Bedford county, for 50 lbs. Land was originally granted to Jearns (sic?)
McDavitt by patent and thence by order of McDavitt's will, conveyed land to
John McDavitt, thence by deed to William Boyd." end quote. The
McDavitts/McDavids were part of the Cub Creek settlement very early in Lunenburg. My
question is this. Could this William Boyd of Prince Edward county be the
2nd husband of Sarah Caldwell, wife of the George Caldwell who died in 1742?
Could the George Caldwell of the Bedford deed be the son or grandson of
the deceased George? I have studied the Cub Creek Settlement much and I am as
confused as everyone else. The old "traditional" stories are filled with
gaping holes and conflict. I have many questions which can wait. I am
hoping someone has some primary sources to clear some of this up. Edwin Dean
