Prudence M. Bardo Kuerner Caldwell
It is with much sadness that our family announces the death of our beloved Prudence M.
Bardo Kuerner Caldwell on Monday, March 22, 2010 following an extended illness. Prudence
was born to Carmella Comi and Charles Bardo on November 18, 1931. Growing up she helped
her parents run Bardo's Market on Liberty Street. She graduated from Strong Vincent
High School in 1949 and went on to raise four children in their Harborcreek home. Our
memories of our Mother will be her self sacrificing love for her family. Prudence, also
known as Prue, was retired from Erie Insurance Exchange where she worked in Policy Holder
records. She volunteered many hours at Lakeshore Railway Society preparing meals for
patrons in the dining car and participating in the "Christmas at the Station"
craft sale. Prudence was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and for many years attended a
bible study lead by her dear friend, Yvonne Doerr. She is survived by four children,
Donald and Terri (Risjan) Kuerner of !
Connecticut, Theodore and Linda (Hejmej) Kuerner of Erie, Barry and Joy (Kowalski)
Kuerner of New Port Richey, Fla. and Penny (Kuerner) and Matthew Duckett of Harborcreek;
sisters, Sadie (Bardo) and Frank Randazzo and Anita (Bardo) Stiles of Erie, Carol (Bardo)
and Bob Yochim of Texas; brother, Charles Bardo and Geri of Arkansas. She is survived by
many grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents as well as her husband, James C. Caldwell and companion, Karl
Beringer; brothers, Vincent, John, Richard and Anthony Bardo. Friends may call at the
Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9
p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. followed
by a Funeral Service at Wesley United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. conducted by Rev.
G.H. Trumbo. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
