Hi Robert: You started me searching my William again. I find that I misspoke when I said he signed a Declaration of Allegiance. I now have a copy of the original document he signed. On Fryday, October 14th 1791 in the Court of General Sessions of the Peace. Johnstown-Montgomery County 1772 - 1806. Volue II. Pages 151 to 300. General Session Minutes:
"William Caldwell producing a certificate that he lived in this county upwards of four years & that he is of good moral character, was naturalized by taking the oath to support the constitution of the United States" So apparently he did come from "across the pond". If I could only find when. Dee Quinn

Returning to an old thread, we disproved John K. Caldwell/Mary Pomeroy as part of the Alexander Caldwell line with much greatly appreciated consultation with Jim Brown, so I thought I should update this to prevent mis-information bogging down other's efforts.

I am interested in the Caldwells. Three of our Caldwell's left Campbell Co. Ky and moved on to Hancock Co. Indiana.
I Found the picture of Elijah and his gravestone. There are letters and other documents at Ball State U. from a collection of our Caldwells and other relatives. We have only gotten four of the letters and these were from David Caldwells children to the Anderson family during the before and after the Civil War. The collection started in 1828. There is also a writtin account of Alexander Caldwell and Elizabeth Huff.
Karen
