Henry Cressman is my grandfather. My father is his son, Harry Cressman. My father's mother is Jean French. All of my life, I have heard about Clementine Caldwell. My father has done geneological research on the family, and I think he can answer your questions. Please respond and I will put both of you in contact.

I think you are correct. I think my Martha Ann Pitman is spelled with one "t". Thank you for corresponding with me though. It has been a pleasure.

I believe these Marthas are two different people. John and Martha Ann (Pittman) Caldwell are my GGGGrandparents. Attached are pictures of this family and John and Martha's headstones from the New Burnside Cemetery, New Burnside, Illinois.
As you will see John and Martha are on the same headstone - John on one side and Martha another.

hmmmm I don't know if this could be my Martha or not. Mine married John C Caldwell in about 1849 and they lived in Williamson County Illinois where I believe they are buried. I haven't had the chance to go up there and look yet to clarify.

I don't know that much about the history yet but I do know anything is possible, however she died as a Bolin. I am just starting out on this branch of my family. I am at work right now so I don't have my records in front of me. I don't know if I have the information where Martha was born, but as I said she died in California, MO (Moniteau County) and is buried at the New Salem Cemetery right outside of California, MO. We have a family plot there. Her daughter Stella, (my Grandmother) is buried there too. She married Edward Arthur Dearixon. Again, I have more information on that too at home.

If I remember correctly, John and Martha had a son named Robert soon after they were married. That's the confusing part, because I was told that they were married in 1849(???) and then I found them in Williamson County in 1850 and they had a son named Robert who was almost a year old. Do you know anything about this?

Would it be possible that John Bolin died and Martha remarried? Because this Martha could possibly be my Martha. Do you know where Martha was born or anything? I have mine as being born in the Caloway County area of Kentucky.

I am looking for information on the marriage of John Bolin and Martha Ann Pitman. Their daughter, Margaret Ellen Bolin was my great grandmother. We were always told that Margaret was a full blooded Cherokee but no one has been able to prove it yet. Margaret died in California, Mo (Moniteau County). Any information would be appreciated. I realize that Bolin can be spelled a lot of different ways.

I don't know if this info will help or not, but I have an Archie Caldwell Etsler that lived in western New York that is linked to my family. Here is the info I have on him from a family Bible. He was born 10/03/1875 and had a sister Edna born about 1877 in New York possibly. He lived with his grandparents (James and Mary Hayford Caldwell and Uncle Henry Caldwell(on whose farm we now live on) in the 1880 census. His mother was Mary A. Caldwell b. 06/11/1854 in Cattaraugus County, New York; d. 11/28/1877, buried in Farmersville Cemetary. I have very little info on his father Archibald Etsler b. abt 1852 in NY. I heard but have not found any facts, that they lived in Chautauqua County for awhile. I have no idea if this is the same Archie Caldwell or not. I do not have any Simpsons in my line as of yet. If anyone else has any infor about this family, I would appreciate it. Lois Lane

Am trying to locate a James Simpson, brother-in-law of Archie Caldwell (b-abt 1860) from Uddingston, Scotland. Archie arrived in New York in September 1904 on the Ethiopia from Glasgow, Scotland, leaving his wife & children in Scotland except for a younger Archie, and was met by James. It says that Archie was heading to Punxsutawney,PA, but I can't decipher where James was from.

Donna, do you know anything about my Western PA Caldwell's - John B., sheriff of Butler County about 1908, buried in Summit Cemetery near Butler, next to a Caldwell Farm, along with about 20 other Caldwells. He had a brother Joseph, sisters Martha, Anna, and Isabelle, Father, supposedly was William. John would be my g. grandfather. Have been unable to find out about John's father, William or Williams father.
