Does anyone have a female Caldwell that married a Brady in their ancestry?
This would have been in the late 1700's. They had a son, Patrick, "Big
Coat" Brady who married Rose Brady, nee Brady. Patrick and Rose are my
great-grandparents and think they were born somewhere between 1815 and 1825.
All I know is that Rose Brady' s mother was a Caldwell, but don't know her
first name. It may have been Anne. Patrick Brady was a farmer in Cavan,
possibly Ballyhaise.

I am looking for anything on Margaret Caldwell. She was b. ca. 1790 in
either VA or KY. and married James McCarty before 1834. Margaret died in
Calloway County, KY in 1850. There was a suit between the executors of her
estate and the estate of Robert Caldwell filed in Calloway County in 1850,
but I don't know what the connection is between Robert and Margaret. Can
anyone help me with Margaret?
Thanks for any help,
Paula

The Will you mentioned is posted at
http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/washington/wills/cald0003.txt
The Will was written 16 Jan 1850.
It was revised when Joseph revoked what was left to his son, John, and
divided that amongst his (John's) children. This was done 22 May 1851.
This same Joseph would have died around December 1855.
You might have more luck tracing this Joseph if you can identify his wife's
maiden name, but that is usually more effective moving forward from those
Will dates.
It was common for male relatives to witness a Will, and often were the
wife's brothers or cousins. Naming conventions of children are also
indicators.
So, for example, if Margaret was named, "Margaret McCain Caldwell" (Margaret
McCain Caldwell McFadden), then it is likely that Hugh McCain, signer to
Joseph's Will, would have been Catherine's brother, and she as Catherine
[middle name] McCain Caldwell.
Let's say that you then found that the Will of Hugh McCain had Joseph as a
witness, and Hugh's wife was an "Elizabeth" McCain (nee Caldwell). And
let's say that Samuel King was also a witness to the McCain will.
Then you find an older Will (maybe a Robert) which leaves to his son,
Joseph, and daughters Elizabeth McCain and a Susanna King, and you're on to
something worth investigating further.
Best of luck in your search!
