Hello former Caldwell,
Have you had any luck in your search? Perhaps if you give the list
your name, birthdate and place of birth, if known, someone might come forward wth
your info? I have recently been contacted by my first daughter. It seems that
for most of the 18 years I had searched for her she was living within 100
miles of me, in NJ AND again in FL ! How strange is that?
Good luck in your search!
Celeste Conrad-Brock, FL

The Long Creek Cemetery Association Is applying for a historical marker for the cemetery. They are looking for information on the families buried there to include in the application. A list of the remaining Headstones can be found at ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tx/dallas/cemeteries/longcr.txt

Can you tell me if any of them were ministers, teachers etc. Where they came from? When they came? What kind of land they had? Were they farmers? What church did they attend?
Anythiing you can give us would help. The application goes to the Dallas Historical Commission and then they approve it and send it on to Austin to the Texas Historical Commission. The wording on the plaque will come from our written history.

I visited Long Creek Cemetery today (8/17/2004) to take some pictures of headstones of the Bennett/Coats/Jacobs/Caldwell.......lines. I was shocked to find several markers no longer there!
I would like copies of the markers for Calvin LaFayette Bennett and his wife Margaret E. Leach Bennett.
Calvin was the half brother of Brazoria Bennett who married Jasper Robin Caldwell (both Brazoria and Jasper are also buried in Long Creek).
I know the graves were marked in 1987 but I have missed placed or misfiled the picture from that visit. ANY INFORMATION would be very much appreciated!

To this person and all adoptees or birth parents looking for their family. There are free Search Angels who will help you search. Remember they are giving of their time and they also have a life. Be patient. Some sites to go to:
http://reunite.adoption.com/search-angels.php - what to expect from your Search Angel
http://www.the-seeker.com/angels.htm - free
http://members.aol.com/bmom2amy/searchangels.html - free but charge fees for copies, phone calls etc.
I know about Search Angels because I use to be one for Texas and while looking for others children I found my own son in Georgia - he had been put up for adoptionas a baby by my parents when I was underage. We have reunited and have a wonderful relationship and I gained two more grandsons. Don't stop looking for the living or the dead, they are of your blood and you have the need and right to know.

If there is anyone out there that can help me find out who I am it would be greatly appreciated. My biological mother's name was Donna Marie Caldwell. I believe she passed away in September of 1972 in California. I was adopted before she passed by Nellie Speight in San Diego, Ca. Rumor has it that Herman Robertson is my biological father however, that hasn't been proven. I supposedly have 2 additional brothers. Please help. I believe Donna's family may have been from New York.
