This Robert Caldwell came to America in 1788 and resided in Fairfield County till his death. I have never been able to determine who he traveled with or where they landed. His fathers name may have been James and his mothers name may have been Margaret Findly. James is suppose to have gone to Forkland, AL in about 1819 to be with one of his other sons. In the early 1900 some family members make a trip to trip Birmingham, AL to visit the Caldwell kin. I have no information of who they visited. If you see a connection let me know.

I just ran across your message. I am a descendant of the Robert Caldwell you are researching. My gg grandfather was Joseph, the youngest son of Robert and Jennett Dickson. Their children were James, William, Mary. Presley Dickson, Abigail, John, Jennett, Robert, and Joseph. Most of them came to Mississippi in the great migration of the mid 1840's. I have quite a lot of info on this family. The only possible conflict I see in your message is Robert's wife, you have her as a Chambers and I have her as a Dickson. Please contact me.
Thanks, Rudy Caldwell

Hi Cindy!
I can't help with the descendants of David and Catherine Elizabeth Heffley Caldwell, but I can tell you about her family. Catherine was the first cousin of my great grandfather Eugene T. Heffley. We have the family back to 1737, when they came to America from Germany.
