Amel (Ike) Caldwell, 61, native of Crawfordsville, died Saturday in Detroit, Mich. He was the father of Mrs. Otis (Agnes) Jackson, Ralph Caldwell and Harvey Caldwell, all of Crawfordsville. The Jacksons own and operate the Mary Carter Paint Store here.
Mr. Caldwell had made his home in Detroit for the past 20 years. He was in the interior decorating business.
Prior to moving to Detroit, he was a Crawfordsville resident and an employee of the Midstates Steel & Wire Co. here.
He was born in Crawfordsville, the son of Harvey and Sally Caldwell.
Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by a son, Frank; a brother, Eddie Caldwell, and a sister, Mrs. Maudie Wallen.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Dale Barbour of Utah; three sons, Ralph and Harvey, both of Crawfordsville and Amel Jr. of Utah; several grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Bell McMullen of Detroit and Mrs. Agnes Measel of Sarasota, Fla., and a brother Harvey Caldwell of Crawfordsville.
The body will be brought to the Hunt & Sons Funeral Home in Crawfordsville Tuesday where friends may call after 4 p.m. Graveside rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawfordsville Masonic Cemetery.
Do you have any information on Andrew Caldwell b.ca 1809 in VA.
He married Hulda Dinsmore. He died 15 Nov 1872.
Any help appreciated.

Georgianna Caldwell married George Cornwall in 1825, in Savannah. If anyone has info on them please contact me. I have the marriage date from the census but have hit a brick wall . Any suggestions would be appreciated also. Thanks,
Marilyn
