The Lancaster County area where Little Britain is located was heavily
settled by Presbyterians. The Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church was
organized in 1711 and current building consturcted in 1765. That chruch
has a written History which contains a Caldwell family section. It is 14
pages long. Contact me directly if you would like a copy, or contact
the church. A few brief facts from that section:
James Caldwell's will probated April 14, 1785 leaves his plantation
"Slate Hill" and other lands to son Oliver - today located in Fulton
Township near Peach Bottom. Sons Andrew, James, John and William were
given only ten shillings each as he had alreadly provided for them.
william was born 1754 and married Ann Sutherland and died in 1829. He
was a sergeant in the Lancaster County Militia.
Hope this helps. Lloyd

Another researcher and I have been banging our heads against the wall trying to solve this. We saw the inconsistencies in the 1860 census, but are pretty sure it' s the same family. In the "Collings, Richey, Pigeon Roost Massarce" book that contains a very good history of the Richey's, John is not listed. We know that John had a son named Norman Allen (m. Mary Boyer Kearns/Kerans) through a birth certificate and marriage certificate. However, the book shows that Norman is the son of James, which I know is incorrect. In addition, the birth year of James and Norman don't match up.
Do you have information on Lucinda's side? Siblings, etc. If so, would like to see it.

Anybody recognize this man?
Maybe Regular Army soldier, more likely Federalized National Guard member, sent to Texas in 1916/17 in response to Pancho Villa's raid. Probably North Carolina, possibly South Carolina origin.
I can share military photographs of him in exchange for family information.
Thanks! Bill Caldwell
Seeking information on Robet Marion Caldwell, I believe he was the grandson of Andrew Caldwell that married Hulda Dinsmore.
It seems he went to Utah and was affillated with the Mormon Church.
Your help appreciated.

The Caldwell Researchers are posting webpages for the Caldwell families who came into Missouri early. We are especially focused on those of Franklin County. The brothers and sisters of James Caldwell who represented St. Genevieve County at the first Missouri Legislature where he was made the Speaker of the House. He had no children but named his brothers and sisters in his will. Most of them had come to Missouri

William b. ca 1765 in VA; Kinkead b. 1767 the first settler in Franklin Co., MO; Matthew, b. 1768, John b. 1771 in VA and resided Bonhomme, MO; Elizabeth md Joseph Conway, Walter who moved to Ralls Co., MO; Sallie, Annis, Ann, Samuel, b. ca 1786 in KY.
Seeking descendants who will help us bring the record up to mid 1800s, at least.
Seeking parentage of this family. The father may have been a Samuel. It is thought that this family was from Culpepper Co., VA, then to Augusta, then to Greenbrier before moving into Kentucky. We find them in the Bourbon/Montgomery/Bath county area before they came to Missouri. Walter remained in Bath county until about 1820-30 but most of the others moved to MO before statehood.
I've "rescued" a group of PORTER Family photographs including the following:
1 - John M. PORTER & Viola IMEL PORTER taken at the A.D. Willis Studio in
Crawfordsville, Indiana, taken Sept 14, 1888 on the occasion of their
marriage which took place on Sept. 13, 1888, they were married by the Rev.
G.W. SWITZER
2 - Joseph Adam PORTER, no location or date, likely taken in the 1860's with
Joseph appearing to be in his 50's or 60's at the time
3 - Mrs. Joseph Adam PORTER, no location or date, likely taken in the 1860's
with the subject appearing to be in her 60's at the time
4 - Joseph Adam PORTER & 2nd Wife taken at the Kilborn Studio in Cedar
Rapids, IA, note on back says "for John PORTER", probably taken in the
1880's or 1890's with the couple appearing to be in their 70's at the time,
appears to be the same man in photographs 2 & 4
Not sure how the PORTER Family members are related but based on limited
research I believe that the gentleman in the first photograph may be John
Martin PORTER b. 6 Jan 1861 of Mace, Indiana and d. 1927, his parents were
John Reason PORTER and Mary Hannah CALDWELL. John Martin PORTER married
Viola M. IMEL on 13 Sept 1888.
I'm hoping to return the photographs to family. If you are a member of this
family or know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley

Judy,
This gets more confusing as I go along. Let me start from the beginning for Jacob & Lucinda Richey and family:
1850 Indiana, Scott, Vienna, Image #297, Roll: M432_171, page 11 on Ancestry.com
Jacob Richey 1st, age 28
Lucinda, 26
Isaac, 11
Elizabeth, 9
Phebe, 7
Charles, 5
William W. 3,
Adeline, 1
Now, here's the problem.
1860 Illinois, Edgar, Kansas, Image #255, Roll: M653_176, page 256 on Ancestry.com
Jacob Richey, age 42
Lucinda, 40
Betsy, 20
Charles, 15
Rebecca, 13
William, 11
Jackson, 8
Harvey 1/12
1870, Illinois, Edgar, Grandview, page 4 on Ancestry.com
Jacob, 48
Lucinda, 45
Rebecca, 22
John A, 20
Harvey, 10
Amanda, 8
Rosetta, 5
1880, Illinois, Edgar, Grandview, District 95, page 78c, Roll: T9_204,
Jacob 59
Lucinda, 57
Amanda, 18
Rosetta, 14
Only the 1850 has Jacob Richey as the 1st. Are these the census records that you have? I can't find the census records of the two Jacob & Lucinda Richey. Maybe I'm thinking of the 1860 census with the incorrect age. I'll keep looking.
The more I look, the more confused I become. What about you?
I appreciate all your help.

Are you trying to tell me that you found two different sets of Jacob and Lucinda?? If so, which census year and which places. That might help answer some of my questions. I do know that there were two Jacobs in the same place, one married to Lucinda, the other to Emeline, which created a lot of confusion for us also.

Two men named Caldwell visited their uncle in Oklahoma. This was around 1930-40. One of these men was missing a leg. Their uncle was my Great-Grandfather Charlie Clinton Johnson. He was born in TN in 1873. I do not know if Johnson was his name originally. An old story says that his parents were killed and he went to live with a sister. No one in my family have record before 1900. I hope that by finding these two men, I may locate his sister
