My elusive Caldwells originated in Scotland and emigrated to Perth County, Ontario. My great-grandmother was Rachael Jane Caldwell, born about 1860 in Ontario. I have been led to believe that her parents were Hugh and Ann Caldwell although I have been unable to verify this other than Hugh's diary mentions Rachael.
Rachael married James Jeffrey (also of Scotland) about 1889. She died in childbirth in 1896 in Grey County (I have the death notice).
Any leads on this line of Caldwells would be greatly appreciated as I have hit a brick wall trying to find any documentation.

Martha, The one item I have I couldn't find on your chart, is that John Caldwell
married a second time. After Dicey died he wed Jane Neely. I have no dates or
other information.

Patti,
I have a George CALDWELL and possibly his brother, David CALDWELL, born in
Scotland. George CALDWELL was born abt. 1831 and David CALDWELL was born
abt. 1824, somewhere in Scotland. Would there be any connection? They too
came to the US by 1857.

Unfortunately, Eileen, I know nothing about my GGF other than what I gave. I
strongly suspect Charles had relatives in Allegheny County but I don't know
who they are. I have checked church records in Nelsonville and there was
nothing there that helped. I have the church in Ironton yet to check. I have
not been able to get anyone there to respond to me for some reason.
If I could get any clue to a relative I'm sure the block would be lifted and
I could put it all together.

I'm looking for a g grandmother named Mary V.or Maria Caldwell born
1847 or 44 in Emmitsburg, Md. I have no idea who her parents were. I
only know that she married John Francis George II, from Wyoming county
N. Y. They moved to Maryland in Talbot county with there children and
had four more in Md. . Mary is buried in Easton cemetery with her
husband and two of the adult children. She died in 1914. As I said I'm
trying to find Mary's family. We no nothing about that side of the
family tree, only her name.
Thanks
Carolyn

Dear Kay, I tried to pull up both sites, but neither is available. Was
especially interested in the one containing info on the Cub Creek Caldwells.
I will try it again this week. It's possible the weekend traffic was too
heavy to get through to it. Thanks for sharing the info. Martha p.s.
If anyone knows anything more about that site, i. e. a different URL, etc. I
would appreciate hearing from you.
