Hello Fellow Caldwell Researchers:
I am new to this list & hoping to find out more information about some of my ancestors in the Lincoln County/Catawba County/Newton, North Carolina area.
I am particularly interested in any information on my great grandmother, Elizabeth Rebecca Caldwell, b: January 8 or 18, 1862. She married John Turner Jones, also of Newton. She died at the age of 36 on March 25, 1898. Does anyone out there know how she died or can you point me in the right direction to find out?
Elizabeth's father, Henderson Caldwell, b: March 22, 1833 also died at the age of 36 on November 19, 1869. Does anyone know how he died?
Since the state of NC did not keep death records during these early years, I am not sure where else to find this information. I am hoping a family member might know the particulars.
Thank you in advance for your help and consideration. Please be patient with me. I am new to the field of genealogy and may be asking the "obvious".

Aloha
I am adding all that I have on my Caldwell family right at the end of
this message. It may be helpful to someone else who is researching this
line and finds it in the archives.
Briefly--- My g-g-g-grandfather was Robert Caldwell who moved from
Chester County PA in 1795 to Washington County Ohio. Then in 1806 he
went to the West Fork of Duck Creek where the town of Caldwell Ohio now
sits. His son Samuel donated the land there to start a town. Samuel's
sister Jane, named after her mother, was my g-g grandmother, married to
an Arthur Rodney Severance. Complete information below. I plan to
visit Caldwell one of these days as the last owners of the Caldwell's
house have donated it as a historic home.
My name is Joy Hofer, my phone number is 808-329-8677 and my fax is

My great-great grandfather was Samuel Canode (Kanode?) who married Sarah Caldwell. I found records in another search who lists them under George M. Kanode (my great grandfather), born in Craig County, VA, on Oct. 6, 1840. His(George's) parents are listed as Samuel Kanode and Sarah Caldwell. My father told me that our family changed the spelling of our name from Kanode to Canode, but he did not know when the change took place. I do not know where they lived prior to moving to Craig County. I have not been able to trace them any farther than this. Any additional information would be appreciated.>>

Mary, I am related to Levi CALDWELL from Bolivar, MO, and would like to exchange info with you. This Levi W. CALDWELL was the father of William Augustus CALDWELL, (b. 1862), my great grandfather.
Only recently have I discovered that William's father was Levi, and now I am looking for any leads regarding Levi's family, his parentage as well as his brothers and sisters. Your gggrandfather was Rev. Lorenzo Dow (Washington) CALDWELL , which means he was the uncle of my William.
I would sure like to know more. Please contact me. Regina

Has anyone come across an Alexander Caldwell who married a Jean McQueen in 1796 in Kilmarnock, Scotland. I think these are ancestors of mine through their son Alexander (b.1809, Kilmarnock and who married Isabella Currer in the parish of Sorn in 1838).
I seem to have come to a dead end at this point, so would appreciate any assistance anyone could give me in pushing back my family tree a little further on this branch.
Many thanks

Here are SEVERAL very important links for you to look at! Have fun!
For a look at the castle click on the link below.

The Home page for those pictures.....
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/6455/
ALSO......if you are a serious Caldwell researcher...it is very
important for you to check out THIS page:
http://caldwellgenealogy.com/
This is JOHN CALDWELLs web page with just about anything you'd ever want
to know about the Caldwells. He has some compelling and factual
information on why the Caldwells were NEVER pirates......were NOT
related to Oliver Cromwell or Queen Elizabeth I......and were in fact in
Scotland long before any of this erroneous information got spread
around. Actually, their real history in Scotland is far more
interesting....and there are castles there too! He has a discussion
list going that is also very fascinating....with msg. from some
authentic cousins still living in Scotland. These guys know what
they're talking about!! Plenty of places for you to add your queries.
And while we're at it here.......you'll need to read all about the PHONY
CALDWELL GENEALOGY written by Gustav ANJOU........this is where all the
bad info originated.....and the following web page will give you all
that info by EXPERTS!
For FRAUDULENT LINEAGES see America's First Families
http://linkline.com/personal/xymox
scroll down and click on Fraudulent Lineages.
I think you'll find it all very interesting and eye-opening.
Of course......none of this has helped me find the ancestry of my
ALEXANDER CALDWELL who lived in Lockbourne, Franklin County, Ohio in the
mid 1800's! haha!
I know lots about him but NOT.....where he came from or who his parents
were!
By the way.....the Beleek link was very interesting. Thanks for sharing
that one!
Phyllis in Atlanta......always looking for ALEXANDER!!!
