Do you have a birth or death date for Samuel Caldwell? I have several
Samuels in my database. My grandmother was a CALDWELL from Leslie County KY
so I have quite a bit of info on them.

SULFNBK.EXE Warning
Reported on: April 17, 2001
Last Updated on: October 29, 2001 at 03:38:41 PM PST
Type: Hoax
Technical description:
The following hoax email was first reported in Brazil. The original email is
in Portuguese; it is followed by several other versions.
CAUTIONS:
This particular email message is a hoax. The file that is mentioned in the
hoax, however, Sulfnbk.exe, is a Microsoft Windows utility that is used to
restore long file names, and like any .exe file, it can be infected by a
virus that targets .exe files.
The virus/worm W32.Magistr.24876@mm can arrive as an attachment named
Sulfnbk.exe. The Sulfnbk.exe file used by Windows is located in the
C:\Windows\Command folder. If the file is located in any other folder, or
arrives as an attachment to a email message, then it is possible that the
file is infected. In this case, if a scan with the latest virus definitions
and with NAV set to scan all files does not detect the file as being
infected, quarantine and submit the file to SARC for analysis by following
the instructions in the document How to submit a file to SARC using Scan and
Deliver.
If you have deleted the Sulfnbk.exe file from the C:\Windows\Command folder
and want to know how to restore the file, see the How to restore the
Sulfnbk.exe file section at the end of this document.

Darrell,
I too have Caldwell's in Kentucky. My great-grandfather
was Ben Caldwell b. 1903, died (I'm told) in a car accident
3/13/1930 at the age of 27. At the time he was married to
Affie Allifair Blanton. They married 1/30/1922. Together
they had 3 children. Paul Eugene Caldwell b. 2/3/1928,
Martha Marie Caldwell (my grandmother) b. 5/24/1923, and
Doney Louise Caldwell was born after Ben Caldwell's death
on May 5, 1930. All lived in Harlan County, KY.
On Ben Caldwell's death certificate, his parents are listed as
Green Caldwell, and Senora Caldwell (maiden name?). The
informant is listed as Samuel Caldwell of Beverly, KY.
So any of these names sound familiar. I have just recently
found information on the Caldwell's in my family line. Info on
my great-grandfather was very limited from family members
because Ben died before his only still living descendent relative (daughter-Doney Louise) was born.
If you have any information to share it would be appreciated.

NAME: Sulfnbk.exe virus hoax
ALIAS: Long File Name Backup utility virus hoax
In April-May 2001 there appeared a hoax message concerning a new virus that was reportedly discovered in Windows' Long File Name Backup utility SULFNBK.EXE. We checked several versions of this utility from Windows installations and found no infection in it. Here's the original hoax message:
---Begin Hoax Text -------------------------------------------
Virus SULFNBK.EXE
Instructions to find and delete it.
1. Start and got to Find Files. Type the name: SULFNBK.EXE
2. If it is there, open Windows Explorer, look for the file
where you found it, and then delete. Don't left click and don't
open it even if there is a fire, o.k.?
3. Just delete it.
4. Mine was in Windows/Command.
5. The person wh passed this warning to me found it in
Windows/Config.
And Norton did not discover it...
---End Hoax Text -------------------------------------------
Please ignore this hoax and don't pass it on.
It should be noted that Magistr virus-worm can choose SULFNBK.EXE file as its victim, infect it and send it out. So if you find this file attached to an e-mail message please delete it, never run the attachment.
Thanks to R.Engelander for the translation of this hoax.
There are 2 minor variants of this hoax:
---Begin Hoax Text -------------------------------------------
Dear everyone: Sorry about this, but it seems that there is a
nasty virus going around, but you can fix it if you act fast.
Please act URGENTLY. The virus could be in your computer files
now, dormant but will become active on June 1. Please follow
directions below to check if you have it and to remove it now. I
found it and removed it today.
It was brought to my attention today that a virus is in
circulation via email. I looked for it and to my surprise I
found it on mine. Please follow the directions and remove it
from yours NOW!!!!!
I do not know how long it has been on my computer, but no Virus
software can detect it. It will become active on 1 June 2001. It
might be too late by then. It wipes out all files and folders on
the hard drive. This virus travels thru E-mail and migrates to
the 'C:\windows\command' folder. To find it and get rid of it
off of your computer, do the following.
Go to the "START" button.
Go to "FIND" or "SEARCH"
Go to "FILES & FOLDERS"
Make sure the find box is searching the "C:" drive.
Type in; SULFNBK.EXE
Begin search.
If it finds it, highlight it.
Go to 'File' and delete it.
Close the find Dialog box
Open the Recycle Bin
Find the file and delete it from the Recycle bin
You should be safe.
The bad part is: You need to contact everyone you have sent ANY
E-mail to in the past few months. Many major companies have
found this virus on their computers. Please help your friends
!!!!!!!!
Do not rely on your anti-virus software. McAfee and Norton
cannot detect it because it does not become a virus until June
1st.
Whatever you do, do not open the file!!!
---End Hoax Text -------------------------------------------
The second variant:
---Begin Hoax Text -------------------------------------------
VIRUS COULD BE IN YOUR COMPUTER
It will become activate on June 1st and will delete all files
and folders on the hard drive. No Anti-Virus software can
detect it because it doesn't become a VIRUS until 1/6/2001. It
travels through the e-mail and migrate to your computer. To find
it please follow the following directions:
Go To "START" button
Go to "Find" or "Search"
Go to files and folders
Make sure to search in drive C
Type in; SULFNBK.EXE
Begin Search
If it finds it, highlight it and delete it
Close the dialogue box
Open the Recycle Bin
Find the file and delete it from the Recycle Bin
You should be safe.
The bad part is you need to contact everyone you sent ANY e-mail
to in the past few months. Many major companies have found
this virus on their computers. Whatever you do, DO NOT open the
file.
---End Hoax Text -------------------------------------------

Hi again and sorry for the last e-mail that I neglected to clean up. This should help. Please read, it says it can wipe out your hard drive!!! I had it and it was easy to remove with the following instructions. I am not forwarding any e-mail and I ask that forwards not be sent because it attaches to them. If you don't know how to select all, copy and paste into a new message then e-mail me for instructions, I will try to help but I have OE and that is what I am used to working with.

First of all, this isn't the place for Virus information. Second, this
virus is a hoax. This is what McAfee site says about it:
AVERT HOAX Notice!!
McAfee AVERT Labs would like to inform you of a new email HOAX.
This email message is just a HOAX. Although, the SULFNBK.EXE file may
become infected by a number of valid viruses (most commonly
W32/Magistr@MM, the details of this HOAX message are not based on actual
events.
We are advising users who receive the email to delete the message and DO
NOT pass it on as this is how an email HOAX propagates.
SULFNBK.EXE is a Microsoft Windows utility that is used to restore long
file names
I suggest that before sending out Virus warnings you check:

They have an exstensive database on Virus' and other hoaxes you may

Looking for parents of Sarah Caldwell, she was born abt. 1811 and died in 1880 in Craig Co. VA. She married Samuel Canode in 1836 in Botetourt Co. VA. Any information on her would be greatly appreciated. Linda
The following info is from the 1880 Census record, and I would like to know
if anyone out there is related to this family. Please contact me.
I believe that Levi W. CALDWELL may be my great great grandfather.
My Grandma OWENS' father was a William A. CALDWELL, b. 1862, TN. This family
could be the one I have been looking for.

The only additional information I have is the 1880 census stating that his parents were born in TN. I am a complete stand still with regard to this Caldwell line. I will look through my Means information today and let you know the names of Buck an Emma (Caldwell) Means children and also who signed on the death certificate of George Monroe Caldwell. Hopefully together we can put the pieces together. If you will post you e-mail address I will forward everything through that also. Thanks for you help -- Kay

Message Board Post:
Kay,
I am intrigued by the names of your CALDWELL ancestors, as well as the area of Stewart Co. TN in the 1840's and beyond. My William A. CALDWELL was born 1862, son of G.W. (may also be Levi W.- not sure) and M.A.Nelson (prob.Mary). William's father was probably born before 1840, and I have no idea who his parents or siblings would be.
Here are a few names related to my CALDWELL's:
William A., who ended up in Pope Co., IL, (just over the Ohio R. from KY),named his children Claud,Bessie,George,Lula Bell, and Effie. His wife's name was Emma.
Claud named one of his daughters Emma. Bessie named her children Hester,Vera,Ethar,Richard and Joseph.
Living in Pope Co., IL, at the same time William lived there were Edward and Metilda CALDWELL and Joseph L. and Elizabeth CALDWELL.
My William may have had brothers by the names of Levi B. and Charles W., as well as 6 sisters.
I believe your Andrew J. (Charlie) could very well be a brother or cousin of my G.W. (Levi W.) CALDWELL. Please tell me more.
Do you know the birthplace of the parents of Andrew?
