Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dear Audrey,
Sorry about the delay in answering I was on a Genealogy trip.
Anything related to research, research techniques, or Caldwell's and
their lives or traditions or anything concerning and helpful to all the
people of the list is great.
Only thing not allowed is mean rude behavior,( and maybe sports !
unless a Caldwell did it!).
We do have to remember these are archived and should be fairly
useful exchanges.
I was on another list where two or three members got into the rudest
fight over an author of a book I have ever seen in print. That would be
awful.
This list is the greatest. I am so glad to be a part of it.

I don't know what is accepable for the list. But I for one was really
pleased to see your wills posted. I keep hoping that Casper Caldwell, b abt
1841 in Philadelphia, will show up on something or any thing. Thanks
Dawn

I noticed the Edgar (Edward) and perhaps yu can help me. I have an
Edgar Charles Caldwell born in Greenville, SC 1892. In 1912 he enlisted
in the US Army and spent 3 years in the Philippines. He shows up in
1917 in Atlanta, GA where he worked as a bottler and then elevator
operator. He registered for the Draft in 1917 and went in June 1918. He
married Tressie Ford in March 1918. Edgar died July 30, 1920 in
Anniston, Alabama. I have been searching for family for four years,
with absolutely no results.

Hi,
Before I post anything else, would the owner please tell me what is
acceptable? It is not convenient for me to go to 2-3 sites to post when
easier to simply post my information here. I'm admitting I don't KNOW
what is acceptable, or isn't...?
It is not my intention to post anything you don't want on the List. When
posting wills it was my thought that they would immediately go out to all
members...
Need advice.
Audrey
I originally posted this in December to the list which was not so active at
that time. Hopefully there is someone out there now who may know something
on this line. I have very little information on my Caldwell line at this
time. I have been doing research on my fathers side for a couple of years
but have just started on my mothers side. My GGrandfather was William Edgar
(Edward) Caldwell who married Evelyn Gibson, b 1875, d 1943. My Grandfather
was Edward Gibson Caldwell, Sr., 12/3/1897 in Gibson N.C., d. 2/7/1973 Holly
Hill, Fl. His first wife was Gladys Marie Edwards, b. 10/23/1897 in Marion,
S.C. d. 9/6/1929 in Bluefield, W.V. My Grandfather was a Baptist Minister in
Knoxville, TN. for years and was known as "Brother Ed" and broadcast over
radio station WROL. My grandfather had a couple of brothers that I know of .
1. Bill Caldwell and Marion Caldwell. Both of them lived for years in
Dillion, S.C. That is about all I know about my Grandfathers family and would
greatly appreciate any information that anyone has that might relate. Family
names on my Grandmothers side include Edwards, Gibson, Mendenhall, Breeden,
Adams.
Thanks in advance for any help. Sure do enjoy the activity on Caldwell list.

Tabitha Busbee (Busby)? He was a signer of the Order of Secession.

I have mailed to you before about Rebecca Ford Caldwell. This is very
coincidental that I have a Tressie Ford married to an Edgar C.
Caldwell. The photographs I have of Edgar Caldwell might indicate some
native american. Tressie married Edgar in Atlanta in 1918 but, there is
no record in the city directories of her or family either before or
during or after. Might there be a connection somewhere?

RE:Rhoda Scott , James Patton Caldwell b. ca 1816 m. Ann Caldwell and

Mary "Polly" Jespers or Peppers (Was unable to read the name on the

This James Patton Caldwell had a son James Zachariah Caldwell who named

The following paragraph was in with one of the monthly pkg of the CALDWELL
Organization. (aep '99)
"My ancestor ALEXANDER CALDWELL married MARGARET (maiden name unknown,
place of marriage also unknown) and moved to GUILFORD COUNTY, NC, 1771,
purchasing land there from his brother DAVID (CALDWELL) and living as his
neighbor. Although several publications state ALEXANDER served under
GENERAL GREENE in the CAROLINAS during the REVOLUTIONARY WAR, no official
record of his military service has been found. He served as JUSTICE OF THE
PEACE of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of GUILFORD COUNTY (NC)
until his death in 1784, sometime between the August session of the Court
and the November session, when his wife MARGARET CALDWELL and brother, REV
DAVID CALDWELL were appointed Administrators of his Estate. ALEXANDER was
a farmer and large landowner. It is not known where he is buried. His
widow MARGARET and children moved to GREENE COUNTY, TN where eldest son,
SAMUEL (CALDWELL) purchased land in 1795." (submitted in 1992)
Note: I see at least a half dozen clues here I would follow up on if this
looked like our line. (aep '99)
