my husband 3rd grt grandson of James bn. 1724, cty. tyrone, Ireland, wife
Eliz. Alexander, son John bn. 1752, son James bn. 1770 and many other
children. landed in Have De Grace, md. to Baltimore then to ohio cty. W. Va.
(or Va.) Ft. Henry now Wheeling. John helped build Ft. Henry was Indian
fighter, James later move to Belmont cty., Ohio, was congressman, senator,
banker, merchant and on committee for writing Ohio constitution. Have firm
info on all of this, but would like to find out James (1724) fathers and
mothers first names. Believe they are connected to Castle Caldwell in Cty
Fermanagh , N. Ireland, but not sure of this.
What I have is a Wm Thomas Caldwell supposedly born in GA in 1801, who
married a Ellen Burgess Hughes born GA 1813. half their children were
born in Autagua Co AL the other half in MS....I cannot link WT to any
other branch of Caldwells. Perry Newton Caldwell Wm's oldest born in
1829 named one of his sons Hugh and at same time the family lived in
Autagua there was a Hugh Caldwell of about Perry's age who named one of
his sons Wm Thomas....
Could these be connected to the Seth Caldwell and Hug Caldwell line of
TN....?
thanks

I have a copy of a death certificate from Texas for George W. CALDWELL.
I had ordered one for George Washington CALDWELL and this is definitely
not mine.
This George was born in 1887 in Arkansas. He served as a Pvt. Co. B.
359th Inf. He died Jan 12th 1918 in the Camp Travis Base Hosp in Texas.
Father was Charlie W. Caldwell.
If anyone is interested they can e-mail me personally. I will be glad

As far as I know it is. Some researchers feel that Seth's wife was Elizabeth
Hardy, but as far as I know no one has found a Marriage certificate yet.
Seth was found in Pittsylvania County as late as 1782 when he was enumerated
in the tax list as having 6 white souls living with him. Next door to him was
a Mrs. Caldwell who had two white souls in her household. I would guess that
this was Seth's mother.with the two white souls being, herself and her son
Hugh who was not subject to a tax. It would seem that Seth lived in
Pittsylvania for about 15 years, since he acquired land in Montgomery in 1789.

My seth caldwel appeared in the 1767 Loudoun County tax list therfor making
him born about 1750.
He is listed on that list until 1774. In 1776 he is found in the list of
Abraham Shelton among those men who took the Oath of Allegiance.
By 1789 he is found in Montgomery County Va and subsequently in Russell Co.
Va and lastly on the Tax list of Warren KY. I descend from his daughtero
Susanna who married Thomas Kirk.
As you can see the facts that I have are minimal. One could guess that there
was some familial connection between Hugh his father and the other Caldwellls
that were in Pittsylvania county in the 1770's, since Seth moved ther shortly
after his father's death but I have not found it yet
Any help is appreciated or any clue as to a definitive link between Seth and
Susannah
thanks Susan

Hi Jerry!
My James Caldwell (b. 1805, St Lawrence Co., NY) had a son
named Oscar, b. 1832 in NY! They spent about a decade in
Ashtabula Co,. Ohio before coming to Michigan to live out
there lives! This URL connects to a website that has my
James (down at the bottom of the chart, with no further
links down from him) and his father William! James had lots
of Brothers (Chester, William Harrison, etc. who's
descendancy is not on this chart also. I can't help but
feel your Oscar is tied in here somehow! I have no idea how
the name Oscar crept into my line, as it is not apparent in
any of the ancestry!
Please feel free to contact me, as I have lots of data on
the ancestry of this family!

Larry,
I am looking for parentage of Hugh Caldwell who died in Loudoun County VA in
1769.
He had sons:
Hugh Jr(who in 1761 due to some infirmity was exempted from Taxes.
William and
Seth
Hugh is found in No. Va. as early as 1741 when is patented land on Goose
Creek. This land at that time was in Prince WIlliam County. It eventually
became Fairfax and later Loudoun County. He was responsible for surveying
roads and served on the first GRand Jury of Loudoun County. Any leads would be
appreciated
