Thanks for your response. I think we traded notes a few weeks ago on the
Caldwells, and I sent you something about the descendants of Alexander of
Westmoreland Co PA. One of that Alexander's sons William had a son Robert
who fought in the Revolutionary War out of Pennsylvania, lived later in
Nicholas Co KY, and still later as an old man went to Indiana "to be with
his sons." He supposedly went to Marion Co but actually died in Rush Co. He
had sons all over. I learned a lot about Robert and then discovered that he
was not my ancestor. Wasn't your Alexander who m a Coshow one of Robert's
sons?

I'm searching for word of BENJAMIN FRANCIS CALDWELL s of John H. and Rosanna
CALDWELL, b c1837 IN, m 23 Aug 1855 to Lucinda LIMING in Hancock Co IN. His
later life is a mystery.
Benjamin went to the California gold fields in 1859 and was divorced in
absentia by Lucinda 6 Jan 1869. What happened to him after that is unknown.
Did he remarry? Where? None of the family, including the two daughters of Ben
and Lucinda, ever found out. Rumors were that he went to Kentucky, to Ohio,
back to California, and o forth, but no facts are known.
Reply to Jim Brown, jw_pr_brown(a)compuserve.com and thanks!!!!!
Yes, I am. My ALEXANDER CALDWELL, m. MARY COLWELL (cousins)immigrant came
over abt 1740 to Philadelpha PA. Then went to Westmoreland Co. PA and
later to KY (don't know just when. I haven't done a whole lot on
CALDWELL'S as have been snowed with other lines. This Al. C. had sons
ROBERT,JOHN, WILLIAM, ALEXANDER II, and maybe others. I seem to descend
from ROBERT and my ALEXANDER or rather, the family, went to Nicholas CO KY.
Then before 1841 went to Boone Co. IN. My grandmother was bn in
Thorntown, Boone Co. IN. I went there a couple of yrs ago, and the
cemetary in Thorntown had many CALDWELL's buried there. ALEXANDER m.
MARTHA COSHOW, etc. Do you think we can connect. Sure seems possible.
Will share. I have CALDWELL/COSHOW bible pages. vmw

Researching a line of Caldwells that emigrated from England/Ireland in the
mid-1800's. The earliest known Caldwell relative was an Irish sailor
(possibly raised in Warrenspoint, County Down) by the name of: Richard
William CALDWELL b. 21 Sept 1850 (England). He and his wife, Emily, left
New York City and moved to Akron, Michigan abt 1920.
Searching for any info on George A Caldwell.
Born, England 1862. Married Elizabeth LONG of
Manhattan NY. Children: Allice A. b: Dec.1889
Florence b: Aug 1891. George b: Jun 1894
William b: Apr 1897 All lived at 151 west 133
Manhattan. NY
Still searching for info on Rachael or Rebekka CALDWELL, born abt. 1828,
married Samuel Montgomery lived in Pototonic Co. MS I THINK and, if it's
the right one, buried in Campground Cemetary, d. 1909, listed as wife of
S.W. Montgomery. There's a Sam Montgomery in the 1866 Tippah Co. MS
census, one in Habersham/White Co., MS and a Sam in Lee Co, MS. Can
anyone help me figure out which Sam she married, when she was born &
where? Their daughter was Mary Ann "Mollie" Montgomery Cobb, b.
12/16/1845, who m. Isa/Esa/Ezra(?) Cobb, b. 9/16/1843 in, I THINK, Lee
Co., MS, Mollie & Isa/Esa buried in New Harmony, MS-don't now if this is
a town or cemetary. These are my GGGGrandparents and I'm not having a lot
of luck finding which one connects. Any help greatly appreciated.

When you reach the page, you can do a search. Just enter Red% in "Feature Name" and choose Pennsylvania in "State Or Territory Name". This should give you every town starting with Red in PA. I've found this site to be very helpful. You can also get a map to the area. Just read the instructions on the site. Hope this helps some.

Caldwells? : ) How accurate my info is I don't know because it came
through many hands until it got to me. It's all I have to go on though.
William Caldwell m. Elizabeth CRAWFORD moved to Oh from Red Stone Pa
about 1804. Their son, James (1813-1853) m. Wilhelmina FREDRICK
(1812-1901) and had a son, Benjamin F who was born in Elk Run twp.
Columbiana, Oh in 1935. Ben m. Lydia FREED in 1859 and their son James
was born 1864 in Coulmbiana Co. Oh. James married Mary Lillian RUHL
(1979-1952) on 5/20/1894. Their daughter, Pearl Lydia CALDWELL (b. 1904
in Elk Run twp-1981) was my grand mother. She married Webster Daniel
YARIAN in 1922. Any help on this line would be greatly appreciated.
Also, can someone tell me how to find towns that no longer exist or does
any one know where Red Stone is or was in PA? I can't find it anywhere!
Thanks!

CALDWELL, DAVID, aged 87, resided in Talladega County, June 1, 1840, with
Charles Caldwell. Census of Pensioners, 1841, p. 148.
CALDWELL, JAMES. Mrs. P.H. Mell in Transactions of the Alabama Historical
Society, vol. iv, pp. 534-5, says:
"James Caldwell is buried in the cemetery at old Davisville, in Calhoun
County, Ala, one and one-half miles south of Iron City station, twelve miles
east of Anniston, on the Southern railroad. The 'oldest inhabitant' could give
no information concerning the soldier.
"The tomb is built of brick; about 8 feet long, 61/2 feet wide, and 5 feet
high. The shingles of the roofs are badly rotted. A plain marble tablet is let
into the wall of the tomb, bearing this inscription:
Sacred
to the memory of
JAMES CALDWELL,
who died October 2nd,
1847;
in the 98th year
of his age.
He was a soldier of the Revolution.
"The above account was furnished by W. B. Bowling, of Lafayette, Ala.
"Efforts have been made in vain to find the history of this old soldier. It
is said that he came from South Carolina. He is another one of those forgotten
heroes whose graves are scattered over the State."
Hello List Members,
Please excuse this message to the list. However, due to pending
difficulty, I am going to have to unsubscribe from the list temporarily
while changing internet provider. I currently have several e-mails
pending from friends on the list as well as due from me.
I was notified yesterday that since I was using more than 200 hours a
month ( approx. 6.6 hours a day) on the internet that my provider,
HyperNet Communications Inc. Of Cleburne, Texas, was going to disconnect
my service unless I keep my usage below their recently imposed (March 3,
1998) use limit or pay nearly $100 a month for the service. I had
subscribed to their service on Jan 5, 1998 for their normal rate of
about $20 a month and paid a year in advance to get a discount. They
have chosen not to honor my subscription and disconnect my service on
Apr 5, 1998.
As soon as I secure a new internet provider, I will resubscribe. In the
interim, I have subscribed to HotMail (a free se-mail service) and can
be reached at "bcaddel(a)hotmail.com".
I thank you for your indulgence,

I was told that Mary Gilliam Caldwell m. someone with Arnall surname. I
expect that is your Lon Arnold.
