Bill,
Reread this earlier post. My father's name was Edward Andrew Caldwell,
his brother was Edwin Arthur Caldwell, his sister was Nadine Analee
Caldwell. They were all born in Oklahoma. Edward and Edwin were names
that Frank Norman Caldwell was supposed to have given. My, grandmother,
who was a Shewbart gave the names Andrew and Arthur. Kathy S.
Hello,
I am researching my grandfather Frank Norman (Shorty) Caldwell b. 4 Feb
1883. He is said to have run away from home from Kalamazoo, Michigan
when he was around 12. He eventually worked for the railroad and
traveled from Kansas to the Pacific coast. Anyway, I saw the listings of
Frank and Fred Caldwell in the Kansas vertical file, so I sent off for
the articles.
.....No lead whatsoever on my grandfather ( who I am not even sure gave
his correct name) but I do have some obit information on Frank Caldwell
and Fred B Caldwell of Kansas, if anyone is interested.
Back to my grandfather .... on his Social Security Application file he
lists his father as Fred John Caldwell and his mother as Anna Margarett
Strong. Does anyone have anything on this family????? I would be very
surprised if you did!

Hi Group
I am trying to research my greatgrandfather ALEXANDER CALDWELL,
born approx 1845, possibly in C.ANTRIM, IRL. His wife, MARY,
was born in 1851 in IRL.
As far as I know, they had 4 children:
JAMES CALDWELL b. approx 1868
WILLIAM CALDWELL b. " 1875
ELIZABETH CALDWELL b. " 1870
JOHN CALDWELL b. " 1878
They left IRL sometime between 1878 & 1881. I have found them on
the 1881 Census for BARROW-IN-FURNESS, LANCASHIRE.
ALEXANDER was working as a labourer at the Steelworks.
Staying with them in BARROW were 4 boarders -
BARNEY CULLEN 21, WILLIAM CROZIER 29, JOHN CROZIER 32,
JOHN CROZIER 4, & EMILY CROZIER 1.
BARNEY, WILLIAM & JOHN SNR all worked as labourers at the Ironworks
in BARROW.
Does anybody think it possible that MARY's maiden name was CROZIER?
Where would I find information re: ships passenger lists?
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Carol, Subscribe to the Ship'sList . World of info there, and a fellow
that can answer almost any question you ask him. I don't recall his name,
but you will no doubt be in touch with him if you join the list. He must
spend lots of hours there, and remembers so much. I have marvelled at him.
You should find it easily since they came over to USA in that timeframe.

I wish to contact descendants of Benjamin CALDWELL who was born 1847,
settled in Henry County IN, married Susan --- around 1867, and raised a
family there including Benjamin Jr, Albert, Henry, and Fred CALDWELL. They
lived in or near Lewisville, Franklin Township in 1900.

Hi Fellow Rooters,
Below is a message sent by Brian Leverich last night & today to the listowners. If we could all open our purses & send a dollar or two... It sure would help & wouldn't begin to pay back what we've gotten from these lists. You can send a check in American dollars to:
RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative
P.O. Box 6798
Frazier Park, CA 93222-6798
Please make sure your name and e-mail address are on the check!
Thanks & happy hunting!

The gale was followed by a calm, heavy, wet snowfall. Trees are falling
on power lines, and we're repeatedly losing power.
We've managed to keep everything up so far by carefully managing our
battery life (last night wasn't one of my better nights for sleep ... ),
but it looks like we may be in trouble if the current outage lasts more
than another couple of hours.

I'm about to try 4-wheel driving it out to Bakersfield or Los Angeles to
buy a generator. Thanks to the folks who are doing a little impromptu
fund-raising, and wish me luck with the drive ... -B

i saw a number of references to "books" on this family.
i have never seen one. can anyone tell me where i can
get a copy or write to some place for a xerox copy ??
this is not a big family. they came from the Ardstraw
Parish,at Dunloe, Ireland. James the son came over first
and spent his first winter under a shelving rock at Barre.
(which i have seen) and the old house built in the 1730's
by the caldwells (beautiful).
the parents followed later. they married into a lot of the
Scotch-Irish who settled at Barre-Oakham-Rutland.
