My great-uncle, the Reverend John Caldwell, was born July 12, 1858, in
Tradeston Glasgow and died September 19, 1949 in Kalamazoo. He was
buried in London Ontario. He married Barbara (nee?) who was born abt. 1860
and died May 22, 1918 in Sandusky MI. She, too, was buried in London
Ontario. (That's all the info I have on her.)
He and his twin brother, Andrew, were both ministers in the Presbyterian
church. I know Andrew was in Spokane Washington at some point but have
been unable to find out more.
The greatest mystery is his father, John Caldwell, my great-grandfather, born
in Beith Scotland, November 1, 1823, married Margaret Wilson Gibson, March
19, 1847 in Beith. I know he died late 1893 or early 1894 but I don't know
where or exactly when. I've eliminated Scotland and Canada so it likely
happened in USA or Australia. I know he was separated from my
great-grandmother and is not buried with her.
Don't think this connects with you, Brian, but one never knows.

Looking for the parents and family of Jane CALDWELL (b. 13 Jun 1845,
Barony, Glasgow). Jane was the daughter of George CALDWELL, a flesher,
deceased, and Janet LINDSAY. Jane's residence was listed on her Bridgeton
Free Church marriage cert. in 1864 (to John MCKAY) as 267 New Dalmarnock
Road in Glasgow.
I have been able to track George CALDWELL as having been chr. in Glasgow in
Nov 1822, possibly the son of Robert. Through a death certificate in 1886
in Glasgow, I have found that Janet LINDSAY was born c. 1822, the dau. of
James LINDSAY, a ship's master, and Janet (McKay).
