Do you know if your James Caldwell had any Dixon names? My grandmother and
her two sisters were put in an orphanage and later sent to live with their
"Aunty" in Barrhead. The family owned a Bed and breakfast or some type of
business that the young girls helped to run. This family's surname was Dixon
and later the girls adopted the surname so my grandmothers full name ended up
being Elizabeth WHITE BALLACH CALDWELL DIXON. This totally confused me until
I found out the Dixon name may not actually be related - bloodwise anyways.
My Mother is sure the Dixon name is part of the Caldwell side. Also I meant
to ask..how old is your James aproximately. I have a lady in Scotland helping
me find all the certificates, thus far she has found my grandmothers, her two
sisters birth records and my ggmothers death certificate.
BTW..I also was searching the 1901 census for Caldwell living at Pollokshaws
rd but came up empty. I feel it is too expensive! I have paid this lady 16
pounds and she has come through for me every time! I did see James Caldwell
that was from Lesmahagow. Unfortunately I am having problems with the
website, I kept getting booted and the pages wouldn't load , so I think I
will pass on it from now on.
I'll send you the the website for this lady though, seeing as she is working
on my James Caldwell already. She is a really nice lady and only charges for
the certs you want. She doesn't charge for her time only the census or
birth/death certs. She gives all the details on her webpage :-)

Anyways..enough rambling. Here's hoping we find "our" James's.
Good Luck
