Ken,
This is a shot in the dark, but have you seen any other Caldwell first=20
names that you did not recognize on any marriage/death records for your=20
Renfrew ancestors? I've come across your Sinclair/Caldwell during my=20
research and had to wonder if there was a connection to my Caldwells.
Alexander Caldwell b. Est. 1781 Unknown d. Est. 1856 Unknown
m. Elizabeth Fraser b. Est 1791 Uknown d. Est 1866 Unknown
Daughter Christian or Christian Caldwell, b. Cal 1811, Lasswade, Edinburgh,
Midlothian d. Feb 11, 1890 Lintlithgow, West Lothian
Daughter Helen (the particulars are in my paper files, unfortunately)
m 1. Allan McGown b. between 1819-1823 d. Before 1847
Daughter Elizabeth McGown b. Cal 1840 d. 1844
Son Alexander McGown b. Cal 1844 d. Unknown
2. Alexander Downie/Dounie Dec 31, 1847 Linlithgow, West Lothian
I suspect that Christina's parents came from Ireland, but I have nothing to
go on. Doesn't hurt to ask and I'm at a dead end tracing this back.
Sorry - on checking my notes I do not find any of the names you list above.
But just to take another shot in the dark, I would appreciate it if you would
send me (possibly off-List) any of the spare details you have on my
Sinclair/Caldwells.
Thank you.
