Good morning:
I find this very interesting, as I am searching for a William Caldwell who
married Sarah McQuade. They are the parents of Eliza Jane Caldwell who was
born in Ireland about 1835 and died at Hawick, Roxborough, Scotland 14 June,
1887. Eliza Jane married James Finlay who was also born in Ireland and died
at Melrose, Scotland 29 August, 1897. They are my great grandparents.
Could there be any connection? Actually I had no clue as to where in
Ireland William Caldwell came from; shall search now in
Londonderry/Ballycogan.

Subject: [CALDWELL-SCOTLAND] Caldwells and Sweetenhams of Scotland and
Northern Ireland
I am desperately needing help on my Caldwell line, actually I have 2
lines.
The first is a Jennet/Jeanette Caldwell born 1739 in Ireland or
Virginia,
USA. I have been in contact with lots of researchers of the
Caldwell/Sweetenham lines that went from Londonderry/Ballycogan and ended
up
in Virginia. I have been given 5 different sets of parents for my
Jennet
who
married William Stewart abt 1753-60 in prob Augusta/Amelia Co.,
Virginia.
Does anyone have anyinfo on a Jennet/Jeanette/Jane Caldwell born 1739 in
VA
or Ireland and died 1822, Abbeville, South Carolina? Her childrens
names
were, Alexander, Mary, Elizabeth, John and William. There may have been
more
that I am unaware of.
My second line is a Mary Caldwell born abt 1677 in prob Northern Ireland.
She married Alexander Stewart and they ended up in Chester Co., PA. They
probably came into Delaware first. Their son Alexander Stewart was born
abt
1707 and may have been born in Chester Co., PA , he married an
Elizabeth
Finney, the Finneys were from Londonderry. Does anyone have any info on
who
Mary Caldwells parents might have been?
