My grandmother was Belle Colwell, b5 Jul 1863, in Grapevine TX. For many
years I was up against a stone wall regarding this family. Recently I
"re-discovered" a cousin in Texas who is familiar with the family. She is
the granddaughter of my grandmother's sister . . .both Colwells.
I have quite a bit on the family, if anyone is interested, but will not take
space here for it. Just a quick look -- Belle had five siblings, her father
was Andrew Jackson Colwell Sr. I am told that one of her brothers was a
warden at the old Territorial Prison in Montana at Deer Lodge. I do not have
proof of this. AJ Colwell's father was from Georgia. That's all I have.
Any comment or further info would be welcome. Also, the etiology of
"Colwell" vis a vis "Caldwell" etc. I not this is a Scottish list. How
about
tartans, home districts, etc???
Thank you!
Yours aye,
