Hi Debbie,
Albert A. Taylor, DVM, now deceased, authored a delightful little book, The Calderwood
Families of Scotland, Ireland and America in 1964. He really researched the entire area of
Scotland while in the Army, and the book is the result. It is full of many different
Calderwood genealogies and many suppositions about the possible ancestry of our James and
Margaret. It was published by "The Research Publishing Company," 52
Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, W. C. a.
The invoice I have came from "Charles Skilton LTD., 2,3,& 4 Abbeymount,
Edinburgh, EH8 8EJ, Scotland, UK. Telephone # given was (031)661-9339. This was in 1983,
so who knows if they are still in existence. At that time the book cost me the great sum
of $6.20--they graciously converted the £4.09 for me. It is worth having. It is full of
photos of the famous (to us, anyway, the descendants of the family) Calderwood Castle, and
a whole lot of information about many branches of the Calderwood family found in Scotland.
His conclusion was that MAYBE the STEWARTON parish in Scotland and narrowed the ancestry
to two possibilities. You can contact me at my home e-mail address, marionm 112 @
