Hello,
There are two Calderwoods, born in Ayrshire, who show up in the cemetery at
West Galway, New York.
David Calderwood, 1787-1846, was married to Jane Carnduff.
Hugh Calderwood, 1788-1870, was also married to a woman named Jane.
From the graves of some of their offspring it appears each family emigrated
sometime in the late 1820s or in the 1830s.
The other Calderwood family in the community was that of John Calderwood
(1797-1886) and wife Jean Bicket. They were married at Fenwick in 1832 and
emigrated immediately afterwards.
We know of no connection of these three families, but the fact that all three
were from Ayrshire and also ended up together in West Galway strongly
suggests some family link.
Any info. would be most welcome.
All the best,
Ken Cuthbertson
