Hello everyone..........I try not to crowd the list but it has been a while
so please be patient as I can be very wordy .........looking for siblings
and ancestry of:
James CALDER b. 4 Mar 1785 to William CALDER and Isobel LAMB, chr. 9 Apr
1785, Nairn. James emigrated to Canada in 1832, settling in North Dumfries,
Ontario. Only a few of his children went with him. Four stayed behind and
emigrated later after they were married. James is listed as a tailor in the
Pigot's directory for Nairn 1825. (I have that directory if anyone is
looking for information from it).
His wife, Janet MACKINTOSH b. ?? d. abt 1829, Nairn.
According to their marriage 18 Dec 1807, they were both from the Parish of
Nairn.
I have the OPR for James CALDER's (above) christening to William CALDER and
Isobel LAMB. It states the only witness was the "child's grandfather"
James
CALDER.
I did narrow this down a bit but according the staff at the Nairn Museum,
many records did not survive. So I may not have the correct parentage to
anyone <g>.
I found a William CALDER b. to a James CALDER 29 Oct 1758. It was the only
William that I could find with a parent James CALDER during the right
timeframe This James christened this William the day he was born. Besides
James being listed as an only parent to a few children in Nairn during that
timeframe, two Catherine's are listed as mother. Catherine MACPHERSON and
Catherine MCURICH.
It seems to me that when I last posted, someone had written to the list
saying both last names were aliases but I never received a clarification.
With the birth of William CALDER in 1758, a Catherine MCURICH is listed as a
witness.
Sorry if this post is too long. Anyone out there looking for these people.
I have much information for James CALDER and Janet MACKINTOSH 's
descendents.
Many thanks,
Sherry Williamson
