This is my main stumbling block and of course, my direct line. William Calder was the son
of James Calder and Catharine McCurrich. His christening record does not exist but have
tied him into the family through witnesses. He was a weaver by trade and born in the
1750's.
This couple had only one child "recorded", James Calder born in 1785 Nairn (my
fourth great). Witnesses at his christening were James Calder, the child's
grandfather, James Grant, James Alexander and James Tulloch. Since this family (the next
generation) appeared to follow the Scottish naming pattern, I beleive he was the first
born son.
William and Isabel also had a daughter, Isabella, b. abt. 1789 as she is listed in her
brother's Will and spent most of her life with my 3rd greats, Anne Calder and James
Williamson. She never married.
Due to the lack of records, am interested in any Calder's born in Nairn.
Sherry
