Two summers ago my wife and I visited Cawdor Castle in Narinshire, Scotland. While there
the docent on duty showed up an ancestral chart for the Cawdor/Calder Family and I
attempted to photograph it. However, when I arrived home I discovered the photos turned
out too blurry to read. I contacted the administrator at the Castle asking him to please
copy and send my a legible copy of the chart for my research. I offered to reimburse him
for any expenses he might incur in copying and mailing the chart to me. He agreed to do
so. However, after three subsequent communications with this fellow, I have never
received the promised chart and am very frustrated in my failure to obtain a copy of it.
Does anyone out there have a copy of that chart they could share with me. It took the
Cawdor/Calder Family back to the 12th century and I am very eager to obtain a copy of it.
My research focuses on Alexander Calder born in 1800, and who emmigrated to the U.S.
between 1820-1822, arr!
iving in either NY or Boston. He spent some time working (farmers helper) in NY where he
met his wife to be, Soloma Rowland of Herkimer Co., NY. He also lived/worked in
Pennsylvania, Crawford, Co., for a few years before traveling on horseback to Clinton Co.,
Michigan arriving there in the fall of 1835. I am interested in communicating with anyone
researching this Calder Family line and who may have access to the chart described above.
