Angela:-
How nice of you to respond!...Tom Calder, brother of Sinclair, is indeed in my family Tree
and is listed as my "first cousin 3x removed"; I can trace his ancestors back to
Alexander Calder b.1730 and have his 10 other siblings, I think anyway, in descending
order:
Barbara b.1831, Alexander, Cecelia, Donald, Jane, Jean, George, John, Sinclair b.1848,
Thomas b.1852, and Margaret b.1853.
But here's the interesting part: I have it on fairly good authority from my
grandmother (Esther Calder Shearer b.1870) that Thomas married Margaret Sinclair (b.1860).
There were a bunch of cousins who exchanged photos of each other and I now have them: one
of Margaret Sinclair, one of Tom Calder, one of Margaret and her sister Mary and one of
her other sister Barbara. Also one of Adam Sinclair, her brother.
Anyway, that's what I have and includes the reference to being on the ss
"Liverpool" - apart from my Family tree which is on Ancestry.co.uk under
"CARLISLE LAING" - and it's fairly solid IMO. I posted photos of Tom Calder
and Magaret Sinclair there.
And a good number of Mansons, Shearers and Sinclairs do indeed come from Dunnet. Let me
know if you can't access my Tree and we can exchange emails privately.
