Bill,
Thank you for the very informative email.
I will take this opportunity to repost my CALDER connection in hopes that
someone might know this line.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This information was taken from the Family Bible of J. C. YEWELL - 1954 & the
Carroll Co., MS Cemetery Listings book:
Mary Ann CALDER / CALBER, b. Jan. 1, 1808, d. March 22, 1885 married John H.
YEWELL on Nov. 8, 1832. John H. YEWELL was b. Oct. 15, 1794 or 97, d. Sept.
2, 1879. These are my ggg grandparents.
( The Carroll Co., MS, Cemetery Listing book shows the date of John H.
YEWELL's birth, taken from his tombstone, as Oct. 15, 1797. Also from the
book & from Mary's tombstone, her last name is given as CALBER & her date of
death. Is CALBER a spelling variation or mis-spelling of CALDER? However,
this would not be the first time I have seen a spelling error on a tombstone.
)
Mary Ann CALDER & John H. YEWELL had the following known children:
Penelope Angeline YEWELL, b. 1838, Carroll County, MS. She married
Isaac DUNN on Oct. 7, 1856. Isaac DUNN d. Dec 31 1863 in Chattanooga, TN ( a
Civil War soldier).
Eliza Jane YEWELL, b. Nov. 1834, died before 1910, buried in Poplar Springs
Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Mississippi. She married on Feb. 23, 1852 in
Carroll County, Mississippi to David DUNN, born ca. 1816 or ca. 1830. He died
before 1900 in Carroll County, Mississippi, & was buried in Poplar Springs
Church Cemetery, Carroll County, Mississippi. (These are my gg grandparents.)
James C. (Cisero) YEWELL, b. Nov. 30, 1856, d. March 25, 1936. On Nov. 11,
1892, James C. YEWELL married Martha BAGLEY who was b. Dec. 25, 1875, d.
1915. She may have been born in Salem, MA since notes indicate a connection
for her to that area but I am unsure of exactly what that connection is. (
This information from the Carroll Co. Cemetery Listing book: Beside James
Cisero Yewell is the grave of Mattie Bagley Yewell / Oct. 30, 1851/ Nov. 11,
1892. James YEWELL's middle name, Cisero, came from the book also.)
John F. YEWELL, b. Jan. 28, 1845, d. 1860
Norman M. YEWELL, b. Sept. 30, 1836, d. Oct. 25, 1925. ( Information from the
Carroll Co. Cemetery book : Tombstone reads: Co. K, 30th Miss. Inf./no
dates.)
Note: James C. YEWELL was a Civil War soldier.
I have been told that there may have been another sibling (daughter) but have
not been able to get any information to confirm.
Tandy is also a given name & nickname that appears in my CALDER / YEWELL &
related lines. I am not sure with which line it originated.
Any information on this line will certainly be appreciated.
