Carlene,
Thank you for your information. Following is what we have recorded in our
family tree. I have since found that James CALDER has a sister Isabella
(spinster) living near him in Ayr, Ontario. We do not know anything about
his siblings. That's where we are stuck. If one of his siblings came to
Canada, possibly more followed.
Best regards,

Preface
The record on the pages of this booklet span a time period of about one
hundred fifty years from 1831-32 (?)1 When James CALDER, father of Anne,
arrived from Scotland to settle in Ayr, Ontario.
The Calder Family (Jean Williamson obtained much of this information from
Janet Vincer)

Cedar Creek Cemetery, North Dumfries, beside his son William, and his
son-in-law James WILLIAMSON. He was married 18 Dec 1807 to Janet MACINTOSH

James Calder's second wife was Margaret Wyllie GUTHRIE b 1874; d 22 Nov
1884; bur Ayr Cemetery with her first husband. Margaret and her first
husband, David, owned the farm on Lots 31 and 32 of Concession 9 which was
quite close to the Calder farm. David GUTHRIE died shortly after he and
Margaret had immigrated from Ayrshire, Scotland in 1833. He suffocated when
the well he was digging caved in. I understand that Margaret had a difficult
time trying to raise her young family alone. I do not have a date of her
marriage to James Calder.
The following Information was take from the Tweedsmuir History Books in Ayr
Library (It was written by Mrs. William Williamson.
The Calder - Williamson Farm - A Century Farm
Mr. James Calder, from Invernesshire2, Scotland came out to Canada about
1824 and bought what is now the Williamson farm from James Dickson.
He had one son and six daughters and had bought the farm for his son, who
died however in the cholera epidemic which took many lives in Galt after the
settlers came out.
James Calder's daughter, Anne Calder, married James Williamson also from
Scotland. Later their daughter (Jean Williamson) married George Hodgson and
they occupied the farm for some time, when it was purchased by Mrs. Hodgson'
s brother, Andrew Williamson. This farm was farmed by Mr. Williamson's son,
William, until his death in 1961.
