Dawn,
Has anyone else responded to your request for information on this family?
Regards,
John B. Calder
Cambridge, Ontario
1-? William Calder
Born: August(?), 1825 ('29?).
Scotland.
Died: March 28, 1905.
Merrill, Lincoln County, Wisconsin, U.S.A.
Buried at: Merrillan - Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan, Jackson County, Wisconsin. Headstone

October 15, 1855 in Portage-du-Fort, Pontiac County, Quebec. The witnesses were Douglas
& Larena Mclarren.
Profession: - Labourer in the 1880 United States census.
Notes: - A Rootsweb posting on May 17, 2009 on the "Calder - Family History &
Genealogy Message
Board" by Cheryl Paul, mentions that she found a bible in her attic (dating to 1853?)
and containing a record of the marriage of, William Calder & Rebecca Arnold.
Presumably, it also mentions the birth of their son, John, in 1856. In later
correspondence she mentioned that all of the entries were for the surname Calder, occurred
in Portage-du-Fort, Quebec and mentioned the name of the minister. The bible was mailed to
Maria Johnson (a descendant of the Calders), in Yuma, Arizona. Subsequently, Maria, sent
the bible to Don Calder, of Royal Oak, Michigan.
- The baptismal records of the Clarendon Anglican Church Register (Shawville), record that
William Calder, was a sponsor in the baptism of John Hoare, on December 23, 1855.
