Im not sure where in Canada the Cairns went, and a couple of your
first names mentioned are also in my husbands family.
Here are the surnames in my husbands family: Cairns, Rivest, Herring, Jay, White.
Hi - there was a family, originally from Glasgow area, that came to
Canada from Anahilt and other areas of County Down, North Ireland in the
last part of the 18th century and the early 19th century and settled in
southern Quebec, at what are now Clifton and neighboring Sawyersville.
The genealogist who researched this family iin depth was Miss Mildred
Waldron, who I think may well have died by now, but her work has been
given to the Eastern Township Research Center at Bishops University,
Lennoxville, P.Q. If you think this may be the family you are
researching, give me some names and I'll see what I have in the small
file I have.
