Andy - The CAIRNs family I am researching is based in Perthshire. The Family History
Center near my home has a lot of Glasgow records and other parishes also. Plus some
Ireland films. Its been suggested you try ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk/ and I heartily agree.
Its not expensive, unfortunately there are blackout years [no births after 1908, no
marriages after 1938 and no deaths after 1958. You could find the birth of Douglas CAIRNS
in the INDEX records, if he was born after 1 Jan, 1928, the maiden name of his mother will
be given in the INDEX films which may help identify him.
A researcher could view the Civil Registration records [and you could if you went to
Edinburgh's New Register House] and write down all the information for you. If you
could use a Researcher, write, I have used one reliably for over 3y, he goes to Edinburgh
every week on Wednesdays.
Finding anyone in the US currently might pose a problem, Security issues are overwhelming
here in the US. Identity is pretty guarded and many people are not listed in City
Directories.
Write again with any ideas of YEARS you are looking at with the linked NAMES if you have
any ....MegG in Oklahoma USA
